Adsorption is a low cost and effective method for the removal of non-biodegradable and harmful pollutants from water which has been widely used in industry. Porous and nanoporous materials such as metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and fly ash wastes were used as adsorbents for the removal of pollutants from water. The study showed MOF adsorbent could be fabricated as beads for easy handling and recycling due to the very low buoyancy. Temperature of heat treatment had significant effect on adsorption property of MOF adsorbents. Moreover, abundant alkaline fly ash wastes could be used for neutralizing acidic mining wastewaters containing heavy metals.
