Immigration on the rise: the 2001-2002 immigration program

The immigration program in 2001-2002 is likely to exceed 100,000 for the first time since the early 1990's. Most of the expansion is in the skills category. In large part, this reflects a strong interest in migration from former full-fee paying overseas students who have completed courses at Australian universities, particularly in the IT field.
