Fibre Reinforced Polymer Composites and Sandwich Assembly for Column and Wall Applications

thesis
posted on 2020-02-10, 00:15 authored by LEI XIE
Fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have received worldwide interests to use as load-bearing components in structural applications. The utilization of FRP composites into structural applications requires comprehensive knowledge of their mechanical performance. In this study, the mechanical performance of FRP columns and sandwich assemblies are thoroughly investigated under different compressive loading scenarios through experimental, analytical and numerical approaches. The results from above studies may broaden the understanding of the mechanical performance of FRP columns and sandwich assemblies and may benefit future structural implementations of FRP composites members into the modular assembly of prefabricated buildings especially for column and wall applications.
