This thesis comprises of three empirical studies on economic development with primary focus on economic history and development statistics. Further contributions have been made to the research literature concerning institutional effects, colonial history, migration, crowding out theory, alternative data, GDP measure. machine learning and the underlying problems that persist in developing countries. Policy implication of this thesis aims to address fundamental factors attributing to economic development.
