Design and Development of Heteroatom Doped Graphene-based Photocatalyst and its Application in Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

thesis

Climate change and fossil fuels exhaustion have triggered many sustainable energy harvesting endeavors. Harnessing solar energy via photocatalysis into storable chemical form to potentially power cars and run electricity is an attractive prospect. An example of this ‘solar fuel’ is the energy-rich hydrogen obtained by photocatalytic water splitting. Coincidentally, graphene, an allotrope of carbon, has infiltrated photocatalysis due to its outstanding properties. This project explores the implication of introducing heteroatom doping of graphene in photocatalysis and the consequential properties entailed to it.
