A scatter-plot of 1 minute against 5 minute Apgar scores of 268,127 live, singleton, term births recorded in the Malaysian National Obstetrics Registry (NOR) for the years 2010-2012.  Each point represents a single birth.  Jitter (random noise) was introduced into the data to provide a better visual separation. The vertical line in the Figure highlights those neonates born with critically low Apgar score (<=3).  The strong visual, triangular effect shows that 1 minute Apgar scores tend to be distributed into 5 minute Apgar scores at least as good as the one minute scores.  It is also clear that the great majority of births have normal (>=7) 1 and 5 minute scores. p { margin-bottom: 0.1in; line-height: 120%; } 268,127, live, singleton, term births
