Agentic Voices

Many educators develop an “I don’t sing” identity; a cycle that they then perpetuate. My first apparently paradoxical directive to these educators is to STOP SINGING SONGS. To learn to sing tunefully, one must experience a ‘rebirth’ of the voice. Through reflective babble or ‘vocal doodling’ daily, educators experienced aural-kinaesthetic feedback and gained musical self-efficacy. Through reflection, they built attunement and trust in their own musical abilities alongside their children.
