Aboriginal couples at the 2001 census
journal contribution
posted on 2017-05-04, 05:35 authored by Birrell, Bob, John HirstOne important indicator of the integration of Aborigines into non-aboriginal Australian society is the level of couple intermix. Analysis of the 2001 census shows that: a majority of couples with an Aboriginal partner are intermixed, that this majority is increasing in both metropolitan and non- metropolitan locations and that intermix is widening the economic base of Aboriginal families.
