WANG, MIAOYI Revealing the interplay of nanoparticles with proteins for nanomedicine The interaction between nanoparticles and proteins dictates the ultimate biological fate of nanoparticles introduced in vivo and thus necessitates an in-depth examination for advancing nanomedicine. This thesis delineates plasma protein associations with nanoparticles functionalized with anti-fouling stealth polymers, and demonstrates the potency of a range of engineered nanoparticles in inhibiting pathogenic protein aggregation and toxicity in vitro and in vivo. Overall, the findings documented in the thesis support rational design of nanomedicine for maximal protein avoidance and effectiveness against amyloidosis in type 2 diabetes and other amyloid diseases. nanomedicine;nanotechnology;Pharmaceutical Sciences;Nanomedicine 2019-04-15
