This thesis examines the Australian food regulatory framework and its control of direct, indirect and technical threats of harm to food safety and public health from frauds and misrepresentations of foods for sale. It identifies deficiencies within the framework and suggests opportunities for reform including a new regulatory measure to control food authenticity and prevent food fraud.
