Development and Evaluation of a Brief, Web-Based Parenting Intervention to Improve Evidence-Based Risk and Protective Factors for Adolescent Internalising Disorders. CARDAMONE-BREENMAIREAD CLAIRE 2018 This thesis presents the development and evaluation of a brief, online parenting program that aims to improve parenting practices associated with risk of depression and anxiety in adolescents. The research involved the development of a new measure, which assesses parenting practices against evidence-based and expert-endorsed recommendations for the prevention of adolescent depression and anxiety. Additionally, a randomised controlled trial of the newly-developed parenting program found that parents who participated reported improved parenting practices associated with adolescent depression and anxiety. A program such as this has potential as a scalable public health approach that can be disseminated widely at low cost.
