The demographic profile, wellbeing, and motivations of families who home educate in Australia GAMBLENICHOLAS LUKE 2017 This study investigated demographic characteristics, wellbeing, and motivations of 231 parents who home educate their children in Australia and a comparison group of 289 parents who do not. The analyses revealed that parents who home educate reported higher levels of wellbeing and a reduced impact of stress on their wellbeing. The most popular primary motivations were to educate a child without the structure of a school environment, to increase family bonds and to assist a child with an impairment or disability. This study informs policymakers and parents in the area of home education.
