Development and validation of scales to rate the intensity of balance exercise FARLIEMELANIE KIM 2017 Balance exercises are routinely prescribed to improve balance to prevent falls in older adults. To determine the optimal intensity of balance exercises in rehabilitation, a valid measure of intensity is needed. This thesis reports a scale development project that has developed two scales to measure balance exercise intensity, and assessed these new measures in a diverse sample of older adults. This research has laid the groundwork necessary for future investigation of exercise intensity recommendations as they apply to balance exercise training.
