This paper considers the problems of teaching economics to non-economics students. Increasingly economics is being taught as a single, introductory, compulsory subject in a wide range of field's of study. Students learning economics under such circumstances may have special problems. They may not see the need for economics, they may not be interested in it and they may find it difficult to cope with a style of subject and teaching which is quite different to their core interest. These issues are examined through a case study of the subject Tourism and Hospitality Economics, which is compulsory for students studying Tourism and Hospitality at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University.
