Yadav, Saroj Role of microtubule-associated protein 7 domain containing protein 3 in microtubule assembly and cell motility This thesis endeavors to understand the role of a protein, microtubule-associated protein 7 domain containing protein 3 (MAP7D3) in the multiplication and motility of cancer cells. Microtubules are part of the cytoskeleton, which regulate cell division and cell motility. Current work suggests that the C-terminal region of MAP7D3 regulates the assembly of the microtubules in vitro. It also indicates that loss of MAP7D3 reduces the motility of malignant cancer cells by altering the turnover of actin, another cytoskeletal component. Therefore, targeting MAP7D3 can be used as a strategy to control the movement of malignant cancer cells to new sites.
