The research is based around the platinum based drug cisplatin which is a successful chemotherapy agent currently being used for various cancer treatments. In particular it is mainly used against testicular cancer with a cure rate of at least 90%. However, despite its success there are still limitations such as the issue of resistances and side effects. This research extends a number of new synthetic methods to organoplatinum(II) complexes which have the potential to overcome these issues. The complexes prepared have been tested for anti-cancer activity against the appropriate cell lines. %I Monash University
