The present invention relates generally to a method for determining and quantifying cellular adhesive phenomena. More particularly, the present invention contemplates a flow-based system for determining the binding capability of platelets or their progenitors or other cells in biological samples which may be either fully or semi-automated. The method of the present invention is particularly useful in assessing individuals for abnormalities in platelet activity or function, such as those occurring in thrombosis, heart disease, stroke or other vascular diseases.
