About 30,000 patients undergo angioplasty in Australia each year, and many of these patients develop restenosis and enhanced mortality rate of 30-40%. This research is directed towards the identification of novel and effective treatment of restenosis using small drug molecules. In addition, this thesis studies the role of various chemical modifications on known and novel drug entities leading to a improved biological activity for cancer therapy.
